Issue:
Alandi road construction has seen a lot of trees being cut. Re-plantation plan and plans of planting new trees on the road side were the concerns at Alandi Road.
Action
Nishi Manjeshwar with the help of Anchal coordinated with the Garden Dept., PMC people and the Contractor and set up a meeting on 6th June.
Meeting:
Nishi and myself were present in this meeting with the following concerned authority:
Mr. Ghorpade (Garden Dept)
Mr. Chiwe (Garden Dept, area incharge)
Mr. Bhasade (PMC person, for the contruction)
Mr. Dighe (Contractor person from Valecha group)
Discussion:
1. The contractor and PMC personal are looking at saving trees as well as few trees have been replanted on the banks of the river opposite Bundgarden river bank. But the replantation (40 trees) is limited to the number of the trees been chopped-off.
2. Planting trees on the "flower bed" area marked and constructed on road-side. (Photo attached of the sample flower-bed area, area under the yellow-black stripes)
3. Ghorpade was to have a separate meeting to finalized the cost and pit digging for 300 tree each at 5m distance on the flower bed, that contractor will prepare.
Decision:
1. If everything works as per plan, 300 trees will be planted this monsoon.
2. Nishi and myself, we suggested plants like Neem, Bahawa and Palash to be planted (instead of Gulmohar)
Follow-ups:
1. Follow-up Ghorpade and Chiwe on the progress of it digging and plantation.
2. Make sure native plants are planted.
