NDA forest Tree plantation snaps

Mail to PTW (Pune Tree Watch) of the activity
------------
Hi all,

Activity Plan:
Venue: NDA Road, Just before Venky's farms. (Marked in www.wikimapia.org)
Date: 9th June, Saturday (This is the current plan, may change)
Time: 8:00 - 10:00am

We (Anchal and me) had approached Mr. Bhalerao (Forest Dept.) for CCT (Continuous Contour Technique) and tree plantation on Bawdhan hill in Bawdhan. He suggested us a location on NDA road which was under forest area and where the department has already prepared the CCT for water and soil harvesting, which is a done for 7000 running meters. Bhalerao has agreed to give 100 saplings, seeds and any technical help on how to plant trees and sow seeds. I will be picking up seeds from Bhalerao on Friday morning.
Anchal has send the snaps of the place in the previous mails.

Your help:
We need "Shram-daan". We need man-power to sow seeds and minimal digging for future sapling plantation in the area allocated to us for plantation this Saturday.

Action Plan:
1. Sowing seeds: Dig a small pit by hand and sow the seeds.
2. Fill the existing CCT pits with muds for planting of sapling after 2 rainfalls.

I have confirmed five friends participating for the activity on that day. I am expecting PTW members to be there too!

If you are interested in this activity, do get in touch with me at the earnest (9860190881 / pramodgoggi@gmail.com). This will help me in the arrangements. I am expecting

Regards,
Pramod Goggi

Alandi Road - Plantation meeting with PMC

Issue:
Alandi road construction has seen a lot of trees being cut. Re-plantation plan and plans of planting new trees on the road side were the concerns at Alandi Road.

Action
Nishi Manjeshwar with the help of Anchal coordinated with the Garden Dept., PMC people and the Contractor and set up a meeting on 6th June.

Meeting:
Nishi and myself were present in this meeting with the following concerned authority:
Mr. Ghorpade (Garden Dept)
Mr. Chiwe (Garden Dept, area incharge)
Mr. Bhasade (PMC person, for the contruction)
Mr. Dighe (Contractor person from Valecha group)

Discussion:
1. The contractor and PMC personal are looking at saving trees as well as few trees have been replanted on the banks of the river opposite Bundgarden river bank. But the replantation (40 trees) is limited to the number of the trees been chopped-off.
2. Planting trees on the "flower bed" area marked and constructed on road-side. (Photo attached of the sample flower-bed area, area under the yellow-black stripes)
3. Ghorpade was to have a separate meeting to finalized the cost and pit digging for 300 tree each at 5m distance on the flower bed, that contractor will prepare.

Decision:
1. If everything works as per plan, 300 trees will be planted this monsoon.
2. Nishi and myself, we suggested plants like Neem, Bahawa and Palash to be planted (instead of Gulmohar)

Follow-ups:
1. Follow-up Ghorpade and Chiwe on the progress of it digging and plantation.
2. Make sure native plants are planted.

Pramod Goggi
